Turkey won three gold, five silver and five bronze medals at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku on Sunday.
Turkish athletes have so far clinched 68 gold, 63 silver, and 54 bronze medals -- 185 medals in total -- in various categories such as taekwondo, swimming, shooting, athletics/para-athletics, weightlifting, wrestling, and water polo.
Host country Azerbaijan ranked second with 75 gold, 46 silver and 33 bronze medals -- 154 medals in total.
The competition will end on May 22.
The Islamic Solidarity Games was first held in Saudi Arabia in 2005 with 6,000 athletes from 55 nations competing in 15 different sports categories including taekwondo, swimming, shooting, athletics/para-athletics, weightlifting, wrestling and water polo.
Turkey is scheduled to host the fifth such contest in 2021.
