Turkey's benchmark index Thursday rose 248.58 points or 0.27 percent to open at 91,200.73.
The banking and holding sector indices went up by 0.40 percent and 0.20 percent, respectively.
Among all sectors, the tourism sector index was the best performer - up 0.71 percent - while the insurance index had the biggest decline, falling by 0.40 percent.
In Wednesday’s closing session, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 47.67 points or 0.05 percent to 90,952.16 with a total trading volume of 3.7 billion Turkish liras (approximately $1 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 3.6500 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, compared with 3.6960 at Wednesday's close.
