Turkey’s benchmark stock index started the week with a 496.08-point rise to open at 92,920.01 points on Monday.
The BIST 100 rose by 0.54 percent with the banking and holding sector indices up 0.27 percent and 0.72 percent respectively.
The sports sector index was the best performer -- up by 0.88 percent -- while the insurance index saw the biggest drop, falling by 0.05 percent.
At the close on Friday, the BIST 100 was up 384.55 points or by 0.42 percent to reach 92,423.93 points, with a total trading volume of 4.3 billion Turkish liras ($1.18 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 3.6060 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, compared with 3.6440 at Friday’s close.
