Galatasaray revealed Brazilian signing Mariano Ferreira in an 11 million euro ($12.5 million) deal Monday.
In a ceremony at the Turk Telekom Stadium, the Istanbul club revealed the right-back will earn 2.3 million euros ($2.6 million) a year for three years.
His transfer cost 4 million euros ($4.6 million) from Spanish club Sevilla.
“I immediately accepted Galatasaray's offer when I first heard from them,” he said at the signing ceremony. “Galatasaray plays for the title every year and has a big name in European football.”
Galatasaray Chairman Dursun Ozbek said the management will work to secure other transfers, having lost talismanic Dutchman Wesley Sneijder after four-and-a-half years at the club.
“I thank Sneijder for his services,” Ozbek said. “Players serve for a definite period of time then they had to say goodbye.”
