TURKSTAT has come to speak in the minimum wage negotiations, which in some way concern almost all wage earners, as it affects millions of minimum wage and salary increases.

TurkStat, which is expected to offer a figure according to the available data and country realities, announced a figure of 2,792 lira for "heavy work" in the minimum wage, and 2,507 lira for medium-quality jobs. It was noteworthy that the announced figure coincided with the "hunger limit" calculated for a family of four.

FOR HEAVY JOBS 2792 TL FOR LIGHT JOBS 2339 TL

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission held its third meeting within the scope of the negotiations to determine the minimum wage that will be valid in 2021, online, hosted by Türk-İş. Approximately 3 hours of the meeting, Turkey Statistical Institute offered for a single worker 2,792 lira 10 cents for employees in the heavy work of subsistence amounting to 2,507 liras 70 cents for employees in jobs at medium quality, lightweight 2,339 TL for workers.

"THE FIGURES DO NOT REFLECT COUNTRY'S FACTS"

Türk-İş reacted to the figures shared by TURKSTAT and noted that these figures do not reflect the realities of the country.

* In its statement, Türk-İş said, "These November figures do not reflect the realities of the country. We point out that the figure announced by TURKSTAT is valid only for a single worker. Employers and the government know very well that the minimum wage, which is currently 2 thousand 324 lira per month, is not living. A wage worthy of human dignity, which we have voiced since the beginning of the talks."

"EMPLOYER AND THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD ALSO OFFER A FIGURE"

The statement pointed out that the minimum wage, which should be an initial wage, turned into a living wage over time, and the following statements were used: "Today, 7 million of our people have to live on the minimum wage. Inflation, livelihoods and the minimum wage obtained are known to everyone. For this reason, the employer and the government should bring to the table a number that people will smile and be happy with. We expect offers from the employer and the government."

HUNGER LIMIT OF UNIONS MORE THAN 2,500 TL

* According to the research of Türk-İş, the monthly food expenditure (hunger limit) required for a family of four to have a healthy, balanced and adequate nutrition in November 2020 is calculated as 2, 517 TL; According to the November results of Memur-Sen's "Hunger and Poverty Research", the hunger limit for a family of 4 was determined as 2,523 TL.
