There were 4.47 million unemployed people aged 15 and over last year, an increase of 932,000 compared to 2018, TurkStat said in a statement.
The employment rate slipped by 1.7 percentage points year-on-year in 2019 to 45.7%, which translates into 28.8 million people.
Labour force participation rate fell 0.2 percentage points to 53%, or 32.5 million people, in the year under review.
Youth unemployment rate - people in the 15-24 years age bracket - increased to 14%, up 2.8 percentage points compared to 2018. Youth employment rate fell 1.7 percentage points to 50.3% in the review period.
