Turkey’s unemployment rate was announced at 11.7 percent in the March period, one point down from 12.6 percent in the previous month, official data showed on June 15.
The number of unemployed people over 15 years old increased by 619,000 to 3.6 million people in the period of March 2017 in Turkey compared with the same period of the previous year, according to the Turkish Statistics Institute (TÜİK).
In the same period, non-agricultural unemployment rate was 13.7 percent with a 1.8 percentage point increase.
Youth unemployment hit 21.4 percent in the March Period with a 4.4 percent of increase compared to the same period of 2016.
The number of employed people rose by 496,000 to 27 million in the period of March 2017 compared with the same period of the previous year.
The employment rate was unchanged at 46.1 percent, according to the data.
