Turkish Airlines (THY) signed a one-year sponsorship deal with the Bosnian basketball club, Bosna Royal, on Monday.
The signing ceremony was held in the capital Sarajevo.
Bosna Royal has won European and Yugoslavian titles in the past.
Sarajevo-based club’s Director Damir Krupalija termed the sponsorship deal with Turkish Airlines as a big step.
Krupalija said the club aims to succeed in the domestic league and European campaigns.
Halit Levent Sirin, Turkish Airlines' Bosnia and Herzegovina marketing representative, said Sarajevo has never been an ordinary destination for the airline, given the historical and cultural ties between the two countries.
Sirin wished Bosna Royal good luck following the deal.
Bosna Royal will play against the German team, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, in the FIBA Basketball Champions League first qualifying round in September.
Founded in March 2016 and affiliated with FIBA Europe Confederation, FIBA Basketball Champions League is a third-tier international club level annual tournament in Europe.
