Turkish military said Monday that 537 terrorists have been “neutralized” in the country during anti-terror operations against the PKK since August 29.
In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said 417 terrorists were captured dead, 61 wounded, and 18 captured live, while 41 surrendered to security forces.
The most extensive anti-terror operations carried out in the recent years in Turkey’s eastern and southeastern regions also left 88 soldiers martyred, and 152 others wounded, the statement said.
During the operations, Turkish army also seized various weapons and ammunition that were left behind by terrorists.
The operations, conducted in cooperation with Turkish gendarmerie, police and village guards, will continue with determination, the statement added.
The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU – resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year.
Since then, PKK terrorist attacks have martyred more than 600 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while more than 7,000 PKK terrorists were killed in army operations.
