Sudan on Monday invited Turkish businesspeople to make investments in infrastructure projects in the country.

"We call on Turkish companies to invest infrastructure projects in Sudan," said Mubarak Al-Fadil Al-Mahadi, Sudanese deputy premier and investment minister.

Al Mahadi was speaking at Sudan-Turkey Business Forum held as part of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Khartoum.

He said that they had also talked to Turkish businesspeople on achieving agricultural production worth $1 billion within 2-4 months.

The minister said Sudan could achieve industrial and agricultural development with the help of the techniques that Turkey had.

Al Mahadi said that they could reach their 3-year export volume target of $10 billion in one year through working with Turkish companies.

"Turkey has both know-how and capital to mine our gold, copper and iron resources. We should start production immediately," he said.

The minister said they would help Turkish businesspeople in every respect and remove all obstacles.

Dr. Mohamed Osman Al-Rikabi, Sudanese finance and economic planning minister, asked the local businesspeople to cooperate with Turkey to boost efficiency and production in the country.

"Sudan has a young population. We call on Turkey to help us educate those youth so that they can contribute to the economy," Al-Rakibi said.
