The Turkish Council of Pensioners reacted to the interim salary increase, which was announced as 25 percent by adding the welfare share.
The written statement is as follows:
"We served the country's economy and development by producing goods and services in the most productive years of our lives. At this point, we are fed up with the attitude and arbitrary behavior of the power bloc towards us, its disregard for rules and laws, the wrong rules it sets and the fraudulent dice it uses. We are tired of Turkstat's false data and inflation statements of 1/3 of the actual inflation, and the ruling bloc's unilateral determination of pensions based on these distorted data that contradicts reality. We are tired of the fact that pensions are determined as a figure well below the poverty and even hunger limit and we retirees are buried alive in our homes by being condemned to hunger, poverty and misery."

"We're tired of MPs getting paid 10 times a pension. We are tired of the appointments given at the hospitals only months later and the fact that our three cents salary is taken back from us as medicine and health expenses. We are tired of the fact that the two thousand lira holiday bonuses paid twice a year are not enough for the holiday allowance of children and grandchildren. We are fed up with the reduction of pensions from 70 percent to 40 percent and the absence of an adjustment law. We are tired of the language, style and behavior of the power bloc that polarizes and marginalizes the society. We are tired of the pressure exerted by the ruling bloc on the opposition municipalities and even the appointment of trustees by ignoring the will of the people," the council stated.

"Retired brothers, we have a word to you; Although you are aware of all the bad course we have listed above; We are tired of you preferring to retreat into your shell like turtles, groan and curse and stand on the sidelines and watch us instead of protesting the wrong and trying to come together and organize to reverse this wrong trend in favor of labor and retirement. However, 16.2 million retirees; together with spouses, children, grandchildren, siblings, parents, we constitute the overwhelming majority of the society. Don't you think it's time to say "enough is enough"? We, as the activists of the Turkish Parliament of Pensioners; while calling on the power bloc to abandon its wrong policies outlined above; We invite all retirees in our country to organize in the Turkish Pensioners' Assembly and to establish a new world and a new life."
