The acquittal decisions of 35 defendants, including Çarşı members, were overturned by the Supreme Court. In its decision to overturn, the Supreme Court emphasized that the Gezi Park case and Çarşı case should be combined on the grounds that there is a legal connection. The Istanbul 30th High Criminal Court stated in the letter it sent to the Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court that it approved the consolidation of the cases. The cases were combined on July 30, bringing the number of defendants to 52. In the three hearings held after the merger decision, it was decided to continue the detention of the accused Osman Kavala.
THE COURT MADE THE DECISION
The fourth hearing of the trial, in which 52 defendants, including 1 detained, 8 fugitives, were tried by the Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court, was held yesterday. In the hearing, which Osman Kavala did not attend, the court board announced its decision. Accordingly, it was decided to continue the detention of Osman Kavala. On the other hand, the court also decided to separate the Çarşı case from the Gezi Park main trial. The file will be sent to the prosecutor's office to be prepared for the opinion.
