Security forces killed one PKK terrorist and detained 11 suspects during a counter-terrorism operation in eastern Turkish province of Van, police sources said Wednesday.
The operation was conducted in the Hacibekir neighborhood by the Van police department, the sources added, speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
The detained suspects, who were taken to the police headquarters for legal proceedings, were planning a terror attack, the sources said.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
Since then, more than 1,200 victims, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives.
