Turkish jets on Wednesday hit dozens of Daesh targets as part of the ongoing Operation Euphrates Shield in northern Syria, a military source said.

According to the Turkish General Staff, warplanes destroyed three Daesh targets, including a command post, a weapons dump and an ammunition depot in the Ihtemlat and Uwayshiyyah areas of Aleppo province.

The statement said 82 Daesh targets were also struck with 346 artillery rounds.

Syrian opposition forces re-took the Al Eyyubiyah residential area in Al Rai (Cobanbey) town of the northwestern Aleppo province, the statement added.

Daesh terrorists also re-took the Tal-ar area of Al Rai town as a result of a massive attack, Turkey’s military said.

A total of 1,419 detected targets have been hit since the beginning of Operation Euphrates Shield, Wednesday’s statement added.

Tuesday marked the 35th day of Operation Euphrates Shield, which began last month and saw the Free Syrian Army, backed by the Turkish military, take control of the city of Jarabulus from Daesh.

Turkey has said the operation is aimed at bolstering border security, supporting coalition forces and eliminating the threat posed by terror organizations, especially Daesh.
