Turkish jets destroyed weapon depots and hideouts used by PKK terrorists in the Gara region of northern Iraq, the military said on Wednesday.
According to a statement issued by the Turkish General Staff, the warplanes carried out airstrikes targeting PKK camps in the Gara region on Tuesday.
The jets destroyed a weapon emplacement, a hideout as well as arms and ammunition depots used by terrorists, who were thought to prepare for an attack.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.
Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of more than 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including women and children.
