At least 11 PKK terrorists were "neutralized" in airstrikes carried out by Turkish jets in northern Iraq, the Turkish military announced Friday.
The Jan. 6 operation in the Qandil region also left 11 targets destroyed including shelters, weapons and defense positions, Turkish General Staff said in a statement.
Turkish jets have been carrying out airstrikes against PKK positions across the border in Iraq, since the group -- considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July last year.
More than 1,100 people, including in excess of 800 security personnel and 300 civilians, have lost their lives in PKK attacks since then. Around 10,000 PKK terrorists have been killed or apprehended over the same period.
