"Hak-İş" Confederation Chairman Mahmut Arslan made evaluations about the new minimum wage, which was determined as 5,500 TL the previous day.

Arslan noted that they found the increase rate positive and that this should be reflected in all wages.

"THE SALARY OF ALL EMPLOYEES SHOULD BE INCREASED"

Arslan underlined an increase in the wages of all employees.

"We expect a regulation to increase the wages of all employees. We are concerned that a regulation on only the minimum wage will damage our collective bargaining system and turn our country into a country where almost all employees have minimum wage," he said.

"INCOME TAX RATE SHOULD BE FIXED AT 10 PERCENT"

Arslan also made a call regarding income tax, used following words:

"Considering the economic processes of our country, we reiterate our demand that the income tax rate be fixed at 10 percent for one year for all wage earners. On the other hand, the minimum wage should be brought to a level worthy of human dignity. The lower limit of pensions should be increased to the minimum wage. We also reiterate our call regarding our demands to change the anti-democratic structure of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission and to redefine it with a participatory approach."
