The Justice and Development Party (AKP), People’s Democratic Party (HDP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) will not attend the extraordinary meeting, while Republican People’s Party (CHP), Good (IYI) Party, Saadet Party and Democrat Party (DP) will attend. In the absence of at least 200 deputies in the opening roll call, the General Assembly will be recessed.

The Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) will convene extraordinarily today for a general discussion on violence against healthcare workers and the CHP's proposal for a law on this issue. At the General Assembly, which will convene extraordinarily at 15:00 under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Mustafa Şentop, at least 200 deputies must be present in the opening roll call made at the beginning of the meeting in order for the extraordinary meeting to begin.

AKP, HDP AND MHP WILL NOT ATTEND THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY

If a quorum is not achieved in the General Assembly, the call will be dropped. When the necessary procedures on the subject are completed, if the Parliament does not decide on the continuation of the work, the recess or a break continues. While AKP, MHP and HDP announced that they will not attend the General Assembly, CHP, IYI Party, Democrat Party and Saadet Party will attend. The AKP will be in the Turkish Grand National Assembly against the possibility of ‘reaching the quorum of 200 deputies’. In addition, the AKP Parliamentary Group management called on the deputies to ‘be in the Parliament on August 1’.

46TH EXTRAORDINARY CALL

After 1980, the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly was called to extraordinary meetings 46 times since the 17th Term. While 39 meetings were held, no action was taken on one call, 3 calls were rejected, and 3 calls were dropped because a quorum could not be found. According to the bylaws, the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly can directly decide to call a meeting if he deems it necessary. It fulfills the call request in the reasoned motion signed by one-fifth of the members within 7 days at the latest.
