Turkish police launch anti-Daesh operations in 29 Turkish provinces. A total of 763 people were arrested in Turkey, during simultaneous operations in 29 Turkish provinces against Daesh on Sunday, Turkish police forces said in a statement.
According to Monday's statement by the Ankara police headquarters, the operations were conducted as a result of long-term investigation into people and groups suspected to be in connection with conflict areas.
Several documents, digital material, two concealed handguns, four rifles and 372 bullets were seized, said the statement. Turkey has taken steps to crack down on Daesh since 2014 when the terror group launched a series of suicide bombings in the country.
Turkey has also been conducting Operation Euphrates Shield, which began late August 2016 to improve security and eliminate the terror threat from Daesh as well as other terrorist groups along Turkey’s border with Syria.
