Turkey Diyanet Foundation (TDV) General Manager Izani Turan and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees İhsan Açık met with journalists at breakfast. While evaluating the 2022 activities carried out by TDV at the meeting, explanations were made about the activities to be carried out in 2023. TDV General Manager İzani Turan announced that the foundation aims to reach 50 million people in need this year.
The General Manager of the Turkish Religious Foundation (TDV) İzani Turan and the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees İhsan Açık met with journalists at the Foundation's Headquarters on the occasion of the Working Journalists' Day on January 10, and discussed the work of TDV and provided information about its plans. TDV General Manager İzani Turan stated that the foundation carried out activities in many countries in 2022 and stated that they aim to reach more victims in the new year.
“APPROXIMATELY 25 MILLION PEOPLE REACHED IN THE PERIOD OF RAMADAN AND QURBAN”
It is stated that 83 countries, especially Turkey, have been reached within the scope of Ramadan aid. Drawing attention to the fact that they reached 82 countries during the Eid al-Adha, Turan said, “Within the scope of Ramadan aid, a total of 139 million Turkish Liras (TL) aid was provided in 273 regions, in 83 countries, including Turkey, and 2,150,000 people in need were provided in Turkey and abroad last year. 525,550 shares of qurban were delivered within the scope of 'Sacrifice by Power of Attorney' activities. We delivered our nation's qurban relics to 21,897,917 people in need in 81 provinces and district centers at home and in 82 countries and 375 regions abroad.”
“SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE TO 36,000 STUDENTS”
Pointing out that scholarships are provided to students through many programs, Turan stated that TDV stands by students in Turkey and abroad, and said, “We provide scholarships to 36,000 students in total, including our students from 114 countries and our students in need in Turkey.”
AID REACHED OVER 1 MILLION DISASTER VICTIMS
He stated that search and rescue teams were established in 6 provinces together with Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD). Turan said that they have 1 mobile kitchen truck, 3 mobile catering vehicles, 1 emergency response vehicle, 1 coordination vehicle and 1 search and rescue vehicle. Turan stated that their goal is to establish search and rescue teams in 81 provinces. Turan stated that in 2022, more than 1 million disaster victims were assisted in Turkey and abroad, and more than 500,000 people in need were reached within the scope of Syrian aid.
