Turkish Trade Union to take the streets on May 1

On May 1, the Provincial Directorates of Hak-İş Trade Union Confederation will read the May Day Statement in 81 city squares and organized workplaces, especially in Taksim, in Istanbul.

Workers' confederations announced their May 1 program. Hak-İş will express the demands, solution suggestions and messages of the workers in the most effective way on digital platforms, in the squares of the provinces and in the workplaces within the scope of the 1st of May Week. 
 

WE ARE SPREADING MAY 1 TO ALL TURKEY 

 
In the written statement made by the Hak-İş Board of Directors regarding the programs, it was noted that events will be held between April 25 and May 1. In the statement, which stated that they wanted to take May 1 out of a single area and spread it to the whole of Turkey, “As Hak-İş, within the scope of 'May 1 Week', we will present the demands of the workers, solution suggestions and messages on digital platforms, in the squares of the provinces, in our workplaces and all over Turkey. We will express their messages in the most effective way,” the statement said. 
 

MAY 1 IS UNITY DAY 

 
Stating that May 1 is the day of unity and solidarity, the statement added, “We will celebrate May 1 as a day in which we convey our demands in accordance with its meaning. As Hak-Is, Istanbul Taksim is in the first place. We will read our May 1 Statement by Hak-İş Provincial Presidencies in 81 provinces and workplaces where we are organized. We will continue our struggle to seek the rights of the workers most aggrieved by the pandemic, to express the increase in inflation and the effects of the war in our region on the workers, and to get the reward of our hard work and effort.”
