According to the "Natural Gas Market Sector Report" of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority for May, approximately 2 billion 831 million 89 thousand cubic meters of imports were realized through pipelines and 860 million 38 thousand cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities.
In this period, natural gas imports through pipelines decreased by 5.05 percent in May compared to the same month of the previous year, while LNG imports increased by 15.17 percent.
Total natural gas imports decreased by 1 percent in this period and became approximately 3 billion 692 million cubic meters.
While the most natural gas imports were made from Russia with 1 billion 23 million cubic meters in May, this country was followed by Azerbaijan with 923 million cubic meters and Iran with 885 million cubic meters.
While natural gas imports from Russia decreased by 28.85 percent, imports from Iran increased by 2.7 percent, and imports from Azerbaijan increased by 35.45 percent.
HOUSING GAS CONSUMPTION INCREASED 106 PERCENT
In the said period, natural gas consumption in the country increased by 27.7 percent and reached approximately 4 billion 370 million cubic meters.
The natural gas consumption of the industrial sector decreased by 11.17 percent and was recorded as 999.80 million cubic meters.
Natural gas consumption in power plants, on the other hand, increased by 6.3 percent to 792.98 million cubic meters.
Natural gas consumption in residences increased by about 106 percent in this period and reached 1 billion 833 million cubic meters.
