TURKSTAT announces inflation as 10.94 percent

Combating the cost of living and, accordingly, the livelihood, the citizen is having more difficulties with the exorbitant price increases experienced during the epidemic period. An interesting data came from TURKSTAT.

According to TURKSTAT, inflation increased by 0.85 percent in April and by 10.94 percent annually! The extent to which the announced data reflects the data of the street has caused question marks.
 

MONTHLY INCREASE 2.53 PERCENT IN FOOD PRICES

 
Price changes became evident in the main spending groups for April. In April, the highest increase in this category on a monthly basis was realized in various goods and services with 4.66 percent, followed by clothing and shoes with 4.08 percent and food and soft drinks with 2.53 percent. The group, which showed the biggest decrease in April in terms of main spending groups, reached transportation with 1.83 percent, followed by communication with 1.23 percent.
 

ANNUAL FOOD INFLATION 11.28%!

 
The highest increase in annual CPI was seen in the main expenditure group of alcoholic beverages and tobacco with 31.32 percent. This was followed by various goods and services with 20.34 percent and housing with 14.52 percent. In this period, there was an increase of 12.86 percent in health, 12.55 percent in restaurants and hotels, 12.35 percent in education, and 11.28 percent in food and non-alcoholic beverages.
 
Struggling with the cost of living and, accordingly, the livelihood of the citizen, the waist of the citizen was further twisted by the exorbitant price increases experienced during the epidemic period and an interesting data came from TURKSTAT. According to TURKSTAT, inflation increased by 0.85 percent in April and by 10.94 percent annually! Whether the disclosed data reflects the data of the street has caused question marks.
 
Turkey Statistical Institute (TSI) announced April inflation data. Accordingly, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.85 percent and the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) increased by 1.28 percent on a monthly basis. CPI increased by 3.16 percent and 10.94 percent annually in April compared to December last year. On the other hand, D-PPI increased by 4.54 percent compared to December 2019 and by 6.71 percent on an annual basis. Considering the 12-month averages as of April, consumer prices increased by 12.66 percent and domestic producer prices increased by 10.87 percent.
