Turkey Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has set the inflation rate in December. While the annual inflation was realized as 14.6 percent after the last announced data, most of the citizens do not believe in these announced inflation figures.
Ümit Dikbayır of the GOOD (İyi) Party, who went to the market and shopping with his wife, measured the actual inflation rate. After shopping İYİ Party Deputy Chairman Ümit Dikbayır and his wife Nigar Dikbayır, he measured the December infestation as 3.88 percent. TurkStat had recorded this rate as 1.25 percent for December.
Ümit Dikbayır and his wife Nigar Dikbayır, who went to the market for the needs of a family of 4 on 30 November, paid 143 TL and for the same shopping on paid 148.50 TL on Dec. 9 and stated that the market increased by 21 percent during this period.
WHAT WILL CITIZEN DO WITH THESE HIKES?
In the grocery shopping on November 30, Dikbayır family costs 415.17 TL for their essential needs such as pasta, eggs, yoghurt, cheese, milk, oil, bread, rice, bulgur, chickpeas, tea, chicken meat, diapers, toilet paper. On December 29, grocery shopping, which he bought at the same rates, had to pay 431.38 TL.
Dikbayır, “We paid 376 TL grocery fee in October, when we started this business, today we paid 430 TL. We made a market shopping of 122 TL in October, and 148 TL on December 29. In other words, there was a 14 percent increase in grocery shopping and a 21 percent increase in market products in three months,” he said.
