During the member registration process organized by the Felicity (Saadet) Party Headquarters in the provinces, the stand in Ağrı was attacked by Justice and Development Party (AKP) Deputy Mayor Kasım Bulan and his accompanying people. Mahmut Arıkan, Deputy Chairman of the Saadet Party, announced the attack on the stand on his social media account. Saadet Party Konya Deputy Abdulkadir Karaduman condemned the so-called events in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM).

NO ONE CAN DARE TO SAY THESE SENTENCES

Saadet Party Konya Deputy Abdulkadir Karaduman condemned the attack in a statement he made in the Parliament and used the following expressions:
“As the Saadet Party, we travel every inch of our country and reach our citizens. In this respect, all necessary permits were obtained in Ağrı two days ago and member booths were opened in various points of Ağrı. Despite all the permits have been taken, our member booth and our friends were attacked by a person, the Deputy Mayor of Ağrı, in an ugly way. In the simplest terms, an injustice has been done with sentences such as ‘Is there a party called the Felicity Party? I will not let you open a booth in Ağrı and I will not remove you from Ağrı.’ I strongly condemn this person and those who still hold him in office. Nobody has the right or dare to say these words to the Saadet Party. Whether you do, the Saadet Party will continue to exist in its strongest form everywhere.”

MAHMUT ARIKAN: “WE WILL FIGHT TO THE END”

Announcing what happened in Ağrı on his social media account, Deputy Chairman Mahmut Arıkan said, "Our party will exercise its legal rights to the fullest in every platform, and will fight to the end the arbitrary practices of the presumptuous people within the framework of the law," and underlined that they will follow the event.

ARIKAN: “NEW ONES ADDED EVERY DAY”

Saadet Party member Mahmut Arıkan made the following statements in his post:

“The intolerance of the government to exercise constitutional rights and freedoms by those who are not among themselves is increasing and we live in times when it gets heavy. We witness unacceptable practices of arbitrariness and unlawfulness in every field. Every day, new ones are added to unlawful dismissals, favored appointments, arbitrary detentions and arrests, obstructions and intimidation by resorting to brute force. The rule-breaking understanding created by the central government is also seen in the local practices of the same cadres. According to the information given by our Saadet Party to the Governorship of Ağrı, a vicious attack is being carried out by the Deputy Mayor of Ağrı, Kasım Bulan, and the people accompanying him, on the booth Saadet Party opened at the specified address, on the specified day and time. Ağrı Deputy Mayor Kasım Bulan asked, 'Is there a party called Saadet Party? How do you make an alliance with Republican People’s Party (CHP)?’ We note his indecent, unseemly, ugly and unlawful attitude such as 'I will not let you open a booth here'. Our party will use its legal rights to the fullest in every platform, and will also defend itself and the law with the arbitrary practices of presumptuous people. Our party will fight to the end.”

“WE KNOW THESE PEOPLE DON'T REPRESENT AGRI AND ITS PEOPLE”

İsmail Fidan, Deputy Chairman of the Youth Branch of the Saadet Party, said in a statement, “We experienced an example of political intolerance and incivility in Ağrı. We know that these individuals do not represent Ağrı or people of Ağrı. We will continue our work without bowing to pressure and domination.”
