Unemployment rose to 13 percent and the unemployed people rose to 4.2 million.

Turkey Statistical Institute (TÜİK), announced work force statistics for April 2019. 
 
According to statistics, Turkey in the number of unemployed aged 15 and over, compared to the same month last year to 1 million 116 thousand persons in April, an increase of 4 million 202 thousand people came. 
 
Unemployment rate in the 15-64 age group was 13.3 percent with an increase of 3.5 points.
 

EMPLOYMENT DECREASED

 
Turkey Statistical Institute (TÜİK), announced work force statistics for April. Accordingly, the number of employed in April, compared to the same period last year, fell by 810 thousand people to 28 million 199 thousand people. Employment rate decreased by 1.9 percentage points to 46 percent.
 

WORKING CONDITIONS BAD

 
The labor force participation rate decreased by 0.1 points to 52.9 percent. According to the comparisons made for the same periods, the labor force participation rate for men decreased by 0.6 points to 71.8 percent, and for women it increased by 0.5 points to 34.5 percent. In April, the rate of employees working without any social security institutions increased by 0.9 points to 34.2 percent compared to the same period last year.

Compared to the same period last year in April, the share of agriculture in employment decreased by 0.7 points and the share of construction decreased by 1.7 points, while the share of industry sector increased by 0.2 points and the share of services sector increased by 2.1 points.
 

PARTICIPATION RATE OF LABOR

 
In April, the labor force increased by 306 thousand people compared to the same period of 2018 and reached 32 million 401 thousand people and the labor force participation rate decreased by 0.1 points to 52.9 percent. According to the comparisons made for the same periods, the labor force participation rate for men decreased by 0.6 points to 71.8 percent, and for women it increased by 0.5 points to 34.5 percent. In April, the rate of employees working without any social security institutions increased by 0.9 points to 34.2 percent compared to the same period last year. The ratio of unregistered workers in the non-agricultural sector increased by 0.7 points compared to the same period last year and was calculated as 23.1 percent.
