Metin Yüksel, one of the symbolic names of the Milli Görüş youth, was martyred as a result of an armed attack in the courtyard of Fatih Mosque after a Friday prayer on February 23, 1979.

Metin Yüksel, who continues to be remembered with longing, longing and gratitude despite all the years that have passed, has accomplished unforgettable things in his 21 years of life.

HE WAS THE SON OF MOLLA SADREDDİN YÜKSEL

Metin Yüksel, who devoted his life to the cause of Islam, was born on July 17, 1958, in the Kolongo Plateau of Bitlis, as the third child of Molla Sadreddin Yüksel, a great Islamic scholar, and Sarata Hanımefendi, the daughter of Sheikh Masum Efendi, one of the pioneers of the world of Sufism.

Until the age of nine, he experienced the environments of madrasah scholars and Sufi elders. He started living with his family in the Haydar District of Fatih district of Istanbul when he was nine years old.

HE WAS THE FOUNDING LEADER OF FATİH AKINCILAR ASSOCIATION

The late Metin Yüksel was a regular attender of the National Turkish Student Union (MTTB) and other Islamic non-governmental associations and foundations.

Metin Yüksel, who acted as an action-oriented organizer in every environment he was in, opened the branch of the Fatih Akıncılar Association in Haydar when he was about eighteen years old and became the founding leader of this association.

In those years when the right-left conflict was intense, Metin Yüksel worked day and night to convey the message to the Muslim community and individuals in Fatih through voice chats, written declarations and brochures in order to give them a sigh of relief and to remove the pressure on them.

HE DISTURBED THE FORCES BEHIND THE SCENES

In those days when Turkey was in chaos, under the leadership of Metin Yüksel, places dominated by leftists and rightists, called liberated neighborhoods, were entered, notifications were made, and the dominance of the power centers there was put to an end.

This situation greatly disturbed both the leftists, the rightists, and the behind-the-scenes forces that were actually pulling the strings.

Metin and his friends were subjected to armed and ambush attacks. Metin Yüksel was once shot and injured in an ambush behind the Darüşşafaka school in Fatih.

HE WAS MARTYRED ON FRIDAY

On February 23, 1979, after Friday prayer, Metin Yüksel was attacked by nationalists in the courtyard of Fatih Mosque.

A nationalist shouted "Metin, stop!" three times at short intervals behind Metin's back. yell.

After his third shout, Metin, who had both hands in his pocket, took out his right hand and stretched it forward blankly, saying, "Let's talk."

As soon as Metin finished speaking, bullets started raining down on him. The snow on the ground turned red from the blood flowing from his head.

HE FIT A GREAT STRUGGLE INTO HIS SHORT LIFE

Mehmet Şahin, who is a close friend of Martyr Yüksel and currently serves as the Honorary President of Fatih Akıncıları, made a statement to Milli Gazete on the occasion of Metin Yüksel's martyrdom anniversary.

Şahin noted that it is necessary to produce projects to raise young people like Metin Yüksel, who left a great mark with the life he lived, and to carry his message to the future.

If you want to see the meaning of the saying 'Life is faith and jihad', look at the life of Metin Yüksel. He really was such a person. I can say that he cleared the Fatih district of all these immoral gangs within 1-2 years. He packed so much struggle into his short life that, despite the years that have passed, we still remember him with longing and gratitude. We feel the need to tell people about his struggle and convey it to young people. In fact, the most important message that can be given to young people is the struggle of a 21-year-old person and the effects it left.

THERE WAS NO ONE WHO HE KNEW WHO WAS NOT IMPRESSIONED BY

Mehmet Şahin noted that he met Metin Yüksel in the MTTB secondary education committee in 1973.

Metin was a very charismatic person and could immediately influence the people he met. There was almost no one who knew the martyr and was not influenced by him. Our association in Fatih, which was initially founded with only 3-5 people, suddenly became an association whose voice was heard in Fatih, as a result of Metin's work and struggle. This was one of the main reasons why the late Metin was martyred. He was an important figure for the Islamic movement and had the leadership charisma to become a future leader.
