While the problem of not being able to get an appointment in hospitals has come to light, the practice of not seeing patients without an appointment, especially in many health centers in Istanbul, makes people seriously suffer.

Family physicians, who are frequented by the elderly and people in emergency, started to impose "appointment barriers" and insistently implement these decisions.

ELDERLY AND EMERGENCY PATIENTS ARE THE BIGGEST VICTIMS

Last January, the Federation of Family Physicians Associations announced that all family physicians would only see patients by appointment, that they would not use the "Disease Management Platform" system and would not issue health reports other than e-Reports.

They started to put these decisions into practice step by step.

While the insistence of family physicians, who require an appointment even to prescribe medication, continues, the elderly and chronic disease owners suffer the most.

While people who are exposed to seasonal epidemics are waiting for the appointment day, when they are late for examination and treatment, they either get over the disease or their disease progresses more.

IT WAS IMPLEMENTED TO REDUCE THE LOAD OF HOSPITALS

Family physicians had announced that as of January 26, 2022, they would only look after patients by appointment, in accordance with the "Central Physician Appointment System" legislation, in order to provide the necessary 20-minute period to provide quality health care to the patient.

In the same statement, although it is announced that health services will be provided to chronic patients within the scope of medical requirements, patients are turned away from consultations, so it is not possible for them to reach physicians.

In recent months, the density in hospitals and the problem of not being able to get an appointment via MHRS came to the agenda of the Council of Ministers, and President Erdoğan had repeatedly instructed that this problem be resolved.

However, at this point, let alone the solution of the problem, the problem has come down to the family physicians.
