While collective bargaining negotiations have officially started with the meeting between the Turkish Metal Union, United Metal-İş and Özçelik-İş and the employer union MESS, MESS negotiations concern approximately 150 thousand workers.
15 administrative articles were accepted at the meeting held at the MESS head office in Istanbul. It was announced that the next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 10, at 10.30 at the MESS office.
THE UNION DEMANDS 119.05 PERCENT
The unions, who shared their demands with Union of Turkish Metal Industrialists (MESS) before the collective negotiations, listed their demands, especially the raise.
In the draft submitted by the Turkish Metal Union, hourly wages below 65 lira will be reduced to 65 lira.
Then, it was requested that all wages be increased by 80 percent for the first 6 months, an increase of 3 lira in hourly wage for each year of seniority, limited to 20 years, and an increase based on inflation in the other months.
While he listed his demands as a 150 percent increase in social rights and a total increase rate of 119.05 percent, he requested an advance payment of 5 thousand lira starting from September.
While Öz Çelik-İş submitted the same draft as Türk Metal-Sen, additional articles were included that 15 percent of the tax brackets should be covered by MESS and that complementary health insurance should also cover family members.
Another draft union, United Public Works, proposes that the hourly wage of the lowest-paid metalworker should be reduced to 65 lira and a seniority increase of 2.5 lira. There were 140.5 percent raise demands in total, 30 percent of which were upfront.
