The wounds continue to be healed after the great disaster in Kahramanmaraş-centered ten provinces. While non-governmental organizations from many segments flock to the region, Anatolian Youth Association (AGD) and National Youth Foundation (MGV) continue their full-blown aid mobilization both in the earthquake zone and in the background. In addition to the intensive work carried out in all branches of AGD and MGV, the university organization continues its aid with only 1300 university students and thousands of students in the earthquake region in other cities.
While the tragedy in the earthquake region, which is centered in Kahramanmaraş and directly affects ten provinces, continues, the activities of both the relevant institutions and non-governmental organizations in the region continue at an intense pace. While the aid works of non-governmental organizations that deliver aid from everywhere, like ants to the region, continue, all the organizations of the Anatolian Youth Association, which stand by our nation in every field by saying 'Our love is Turkey', continue this mobilization wholeheartedly.
AGD and MGV University Organization are also working tirelessly day and night to eliminate the problems experienced in the earthquake zone and to stand by our nation. Nurullah Güngör, Chairman of AGD Headquarters Universities Commission, shared with us the details of the process carried out by devoted and loyal university students.
TEAMS REACHED ALL PROVINCES ON THE FIRST DAY
Güngör said that right after the earthquake on February 6, they held a coordination meeting at AGD Headquarters at the first light of the morning and they made the first planning of the search and rescue and aid process. Noting that they set out by coordinating all university organizations on the first day, Güngör said that in the evening of the first day, they reached all the provinces where the earthquake caused heavy damage and joined the search and rescue teams. Noting that they primarily included competent university students in search and rescue teams and that they started working in coordination with AFAD, Güngör said that other young people also started aid efforts.
“STUDENTS REACHED CITIES WITH THEIR OWN OPPORTUNITIES”
Noting that they helped university students from all provinces to act quickly after their assessments, Güngör noted that university students reached the site by setting off with their own personal means to the earthquake zone. Güngör stated that a total of 1300 university students and members of the organization are active in the earthquake zone at the moment, but in the background, thousands of students in other cities continue their aid mobilization.
“5-12 BROTHER CITIES HAD HEAVY DAMAGES”
Nurullah Güngör, Chairman of AGD and MGV Universities Commission, said that they have activated the sister city application for the five provinces that were heavily damaged in the earthquake in order to ensure an uninterrupted and more organized aid process. Güngör also stated that they declared five to twelve cities that were heavily damaged as sister provinces, and that they ensured that the aid process was carried out in a healthier way.
“WE ESTABLISHED A COORDINATION CENTER IN EVERY CITY”
Noting that there are coordination centers in every province, Güngör also stated that they continue the process of determining the needs and delivering aid in those provinces, and that in this sense, teams in all provinces are in the field, in city centres, districts, towns and villages.
Güngör continued in his statement as follows:
"We continue our mobilization to relieve the pain, even for a little bit. We are trying to deliver all the help of our rich nation. Our prayer is that my Lord will not inflict such pain on our nation again. We wish God's mercy on our citizens who lost their lives, and a speedy recovery to our wounded."
