While the possibility of Turkey's fourth military operation against terrorist formations in northern Syria is getting stronger, remarkable moves came from the USA.
THE WHITE HOUSE SENT ITS REPRESENTATIVE
The White House sent its representative to the region in its first move. US Department of State Special Representative for Syria Nicolas Granger met with the delegation of the PYD/YPG terrorist organization operating in northern and eastern Syria in the previous days. At the meeting, where Turkey's possible operation was discussed, the USA's assistance was requested to prevent the operation.
NUMBER OF BASES EXCEEDS 25
Not satisfied with the visit, the USA also took steps to strengthen its military presence in the region. The US established its third military base in Qamishli, in the Hasaka countryside in northeastern Syria. The third base is located in Nakara village, three kilometers southwest of Qamishli, while the other two bases are located in Himo, four kilometers northwest of Qamishli, and in Tel Faris village, close to the Kamisli Airport runway, three kilometers southwest. With this base established, the number of US bases in the region exceeded 25, while the number of soldiers reached 6,000.
