The United Nations General Assembly rejected the draft resolution, which calls for condemnation of Hamas and does not mention the two-state solution. The draft resolution, which calls for condemnation of Hamas and does not mention the two-state solution, was rejected by the United Nations (UN) 193-member General Assembly.

At the UN General Assembly, where the voting procedures were discussed before the vote on the draft, the United States requested that the bill be adopted by a simple majority rather than a three-thirds majority, but the US request for the vote was not accepted.

87 countries supported the draft of the US General Assembly, while 57 countries opposed it and 33 countries abstained. The US's resolution to condemn Hamas was not accepted due to lack of support from the UN General Assembly.

In her speech before the vote, the United Nations Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, argued that Hamas' actions, which he described as a "terrorist organization", have been condemned at least 500 times so far, and demanded support for the draft.

Haley accused the UN of having a prejudiced and hostile attitude towards Israel, said Haley, "Do you hate Israel enough to support the terrorist organization that has harmed the Palestinian people?"

Although UN General Assembly resolutions are "recommended" and have no legal binding, they are considered important because of their political weight in the international arena.
