COOPERATION OF US AND NATIONAL EDUCATION MINISTRY
The so-called joint project of the Ministry of National Education and the US Embassy in Ankara is carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and General Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The General Directorate, in the announcement letter to the provincial directorates, mentioned the cooperation in question and declared the name of the project as 'Excellence in Education and Success Program'. Provincial directorates also transferred to the district directorates of MEB, teachers, the way they will follow the application reported.
FULBRIGT AGREEMENT OUTCOMES
On the basis of this cooperation, it was revealed that there was a great deal of reaction in society. The project under the title 'Excellence in Education and Success Program' is a product of the Fulbright agreement and this time it seems that the teachers, not the students, are involved. With this agreement, talented students in our country for years have been trained in the USA in this program. The decision taken by the education commission formed in the result of this agreement signed on December 27, 1947 has shaped the Turkish education system and it has been expressed for various years in various circles.
6 WEEKLY TRAINING COSTS FROM US
The details of the project to be carried out in cooperation between the MEB and the US embassy are also mentioned in the related articles. Acceptable teachers will be transferred to 6 weeks training in America. It was observed that the purpose of the training was to teach the teaching methods, curriculum development and course planning and teaching strategies and training technologies in the writing of the announcement which stated that the aim was not to support vocational education of teachers and to improve teaching skills. It is also mentioned that all costs related to education will be provided by the US government.
US WILL SELECT THE APPLICANTS
A five-person commission will also be established for the selection of programa applicants. 3 members of the Commission will be determined by the relevant units of the MEB and 2 other members will be determined by the US embassy. The final list of the winners finalized by the Commission will be decided by organizations located in the United States, not by the MEB, but by the embassy of the United States.
LEADER TEACHERS WANTED!
The attention to details of the teachers' qualifications, which will come to America's trainings, came to light. If applicants are required to score 70 or over from YDS, they are required to work as English teachers with a requirement of 5 years and more teaching. It is also among the conditions that secondary school and high school teachers will apply. It is also mentioned in the announcement that the teacher candidates who will attract attention such as "the desire to continue the duty, potential for leadership, participation in volunteer services as well as teachers, potential for developing educational co-operation between the two countries" will be selected.
