The USA vetoed the draft resolution in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) demanding an urgent humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.

The draft resolution, co-presented by the United Arab Emirates and more than 80 countries, including Turkey, was voted in the emergency session held in the UNSC.

The bill was vetoed by the permanent member, the United States. While the UK voted "abstain", the other 13 members voted "yes".

Referring to the letter sent by United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to the council, invoking Article 99 of the UN Charter, the draft resolution stated that all civil societies should be protected, pointing out the terrible humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the suffering of the Palestinian people.

In the draft resolution, which called for an urgent humanitarian ceasefire, all parties were called to fulfill their obligations under international law, especially in protecting civilians. The draft resolution demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all captives and access to humanitarian aid.

US Permanent Representative to the UN, Robert Wood, stated that HAMAS, which defends its homeland, was not condemned in the draft resolution, and that it was unacceptable for some council members to remain silent on this issue.

HAMAS: “USA WANTS ISRAEL TO COMMIT MORE MASSACRE AND GENOCIDE”

HAMAS evaluated the US veto of the draft resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire as "Israel's direct participation in the killing of the Palestinian people".

Strongly condemning Washington's use of veto against the Security Council's draft resolution demanding a ceasefire in Gaza, HAMAS Political Bureau Member Izzat al-Rishq made the following statement:

"We think this is an immoral and inhumane attitude. The US's obstruction of the ceasefire decision is a direct participation in the killing of our people by the occupying Israel and a call for further massacres and genocide."

Palestine's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) Riyad Mansour also reacted to the veto of the draft resolution by the USA and said, "This is a terrible day for the Security Council."

THE DELEGATION OF ISLAMIC COUNTRIES WAS 'DISTURBED'!

The Committee of Ministers, appointed by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League to conduct diplomatic negotiations to end Israel's attacks on Gaza, appealed to the United Nations Security Council to stop the US administration's attacks on the Gaza Strip. (UNSC) expressed regret that it vetoed the draft resolution.

The delegation of Arab and Islamic countries met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken within the framework of their Washington contacts.

During the meeting, members of the delegation expressed their dissatisfaction with the United States' second veto of the bill calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip due to humanitarian reasons in the UNSC, and emphasized that they wanted the United States to assume its responsibilities and take the necessary steps to direct the Israeli occupation to an immediate ceasefire.

Members of the delegation stated that they did not accept the division of the Palestinian cause and that they rejected the future of the Gaza Strip being considered separately from the Palestinian cause.

The delegation that met with Blinken included Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal Bin Farhan, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi, Egyptian Foreign Minister Samih Shukri, and Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki.
