China's long-term "population" plans have emerged, which is increasing its persecution over Muslims in East Turkestan day by day.

In the first peer-reviewed study on the long-term effects of China's pressure on Muslim Uyghurs in East Turkestan, it was stated that "the population of Muslim Uyghurs could decrease by a third in 20 years."

According to the research carried out by the German researcher ADRIEN Zenz working at the Foundation for the Commemoration of the Victims of Communism, the population of East Turkestan is expected to be between 8.6 and 10.5 million people in 2040, with the birth control policies implemented by China in the south of East Turkestan.

THERE ARE LONG-TERM PLANS FOR THE UYGHURS

Prior to Beijing's repression policies, Chinese researchers estimated the population in the region to reach 13.1 million. The Beijing administration, which keeps at least 1 million Muslims in custody in East Turkestan, is trying to reduce the Muslim population in the region and assimilate them. China, which denies its actions, argues that other reasons played a role in the decline in birth rates. A report that “accidentally” went online in China in March showed once again that China is implementing a policy of “assimilating” by sending Uyghur Turks to work in factories in remote areas.

According to a new analysis by German researcher Adrien Zenz, the population of Muslim Uyghurs in the region could decrease by a third in 20 years due to the birth control policies implemented by China in the south of East Turkestan. According to the analysis, between 2.6 and 4.5 million fewer babies than normal could be born during this time due to regional birth control policies. In the study, it is predicted that the population of East Turkestan will be between 8.6 and 10.5 million people in 2040 with the birth control policies of China in the region. Prior to Beijing's repression policies, Chinese researchers estimated the population in the region to reach 13.1 million.

“CHINA HAS LONG-TERM PLANS FOR THE UYGHURS”

“This research and analysis shows the Chinese government's long-term plans for the Uyghur population,” said Adrien Zenz.

Zenz is a researcher at the Washington-based Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation. The foundation describes itself as an organization that “aims at the freedom of those still living under totalitarian regimes.” China detains at least 1 million Muslims in East Turkestan. The Beijing administration is trying to reduce the Muslim population in the region and assimilate them.

China, which denies its actions, argues that other reasons played a role in the decline in birth rates.

ABORTION PRESSURE ON MUSLIM WOMEN

According to Zenz's research, the proportion of Han Chinese in Southern Xinjiang, where the Uyghur population is densely populated, will rise from 8.4 percent to 25 percent by 2040 due to China's birth control policies.

According to a study published last month by the Australian Strategy Policy Institute (ASPI), a think tank that works on East Turkestan, birth rates in minority areas of Xinjiang decreased by 48.7 percent between 2017 and 2019.

In a previous study by Zenz, it was stated that Uyghur women in East Turkestan were threatened with imprisonment if they refused abortion, had them unwillingly fitted with spirals or forced to undergo sterilization surgery.
