In a statement published by the Turkish Veterinary Medical Association, it was pointed out that the prices of treatment expenses such as medicine used in treatment and vaccines have increased significantly, while it was stated that animal owners are facing difficulties in protecting the health of their animals.

It was pointed out that besides the expensive treatment methods, the self-employed veterinarians operating in villages and towns had difficulties due to the increase in the cost of extra fuel.

“INCREASE OF TREATMENT COSTS PREVENTED CITIZEN'S INSURANCE”

Pointing out that self-employed veterinarians provide services in hard-to-reach areas of deprivation such as villages and towns, the statement underlined that the fuel expenses of self-employed veterinarians for treatment, artificial insemination, vaccination or other services contributed to the significant increase in the costs of treatment services.

"There are 56 Regional and Provincial Chambers of Veterinarians affiliated to the Turkish Veterinary Medical Association, and the information coming to our Association from the field shows that their numbers have decreased due to the increase in treatment and artificial insemination costs. This will adversely affect livestock," it was stated.

"WE THINK IT IS ESSENTIAL TO TAKE MEASURES"

In the statement, it was emphasized that some measures should be taken for the vehicles used by self-employed veterinarians in order to solve the problems.

"For a solution, VAT and SCT rates can be reduced. If these discounts cannot be made at the pump, they can be applied as tax deductions. We consider it essential to take the necessary precautions by the relevant institutions and organizations for our breeders and livestock," it was added.
