It was noted in the report that violence continued to circulate in the hospital corridors. According to the report, there were 19 incidents of violence in April. 25 health workers were exposed to violence in these violent incidents perpetrated by 34 attackers. In the report, which also states that deterrent penal sanctions were not applied to the attackers who carried out the attack, the report said, “The decisions of the judicial authorities about violence against healthcare workers did not surprise us this month, as in previous months. The release of the attackers caused reactions.”
REGULATION MADE A SMILE ON HEALTHCARE WORKERS’ FACE
Sağlık-Sen Union Chairman Semih Durmuş, who made evaluations about the report they shared, stated that as a result of the joint work of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Justice, the fact that violence in health is among the catalog crimes made the healthcare professionals smile.
SENSITIVITY AGAINST VIOLENCE SHOULD BE INCREASED
Durmuş stated that it should not be forgotten that violence cannot be prevented only by laws. “It is inevitable that steps will be taken to create social awareness immediately after the law. All the steps to be taken should be complementary to each other. Otherwise, it will not be possible to minimize the problem of violence in health,” he said.
