Data on vocational high schools have been on the agenda recently. Meeting with the students at the opening ceremony of Organized Industrial Zones Vocational Training Centers, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, while bringing up the new regulations regarding the students studying in vocational high schools, did not make any statements about the effect of internship insurance on retirement, which has been on the agenda for years and has become a great expectation, it drew attention. It gave rise to questions that "Is the subject of internship insurance put on dusty shelves again?", which is among the items that were also accepted in the 20th Ministry of National Education (MEB) council.

“INSURANCE THAT DOESN'T COUNT ON RETIREMENT, IS A LOSS OF RIGHTS”

After vocational high schools have been on the agenda recently, thousands of victims, whose insurance did not affect their retirement, reacted because only their health insurance was paid within the scope of their insurance despite working during the compulsory internship process while studying at vocational high schools. Making a statement on the subject to our newspaper, Nesimi Dalbudak, Vice President of Internship Victims Platform, stated that vocational high schools meet the need for intermediate staff, “In these difficult days where the shortage of intermediate staff is increasing day by day in our country, it is essential to encourage and promote both parents and students to vocational high schools. It is a great loss of right that the insurance based on actual work, especially during the internship, is not considered a start to retirement in any way. The insurance made during the internship period should be considered as the beginning of retirement,” he said.

“INTERNSHIP VICTIMS SHOULD BE GIVEN THE RIGHT TO BORROWING RETROSPECTIVELY”

Stating that hundreds of thousands of vocational high school and apprenticeship graduates have been waiting for this grievance to be resolved for years, "While many occupational groups are given the right to borrow retroactively, such as military service and birth based on the principle of equality of the constitution, we, the victims of internship, should also be given this right. If there are no vocational high schools, how will you meet the intermediate staff needs of factories and workplaces? Immediate resolution of this gap is required. Why are most college graduates unemployed? That's why,” Dalbudak added.
