March 31st local election results led to a big disappointment at the ruling party. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the prominent names of the People's Alliance were among those who faced the veto of the citizens in the local elections.

In the March 31st local elections, the fear psychology that the Justice and Development Party and the Nationalist Movement Party attempted to disseminate on the electoral masses was counterproductive.

The Metropolitan voters in many parts of Turkey, especially, did not threaten the reputation of the ruling party. In a period when the economic troubles peaked, the citizen choice, which was bending against the surge waves, preferred the economic growth promise of those who promised not economic growth. Citizens who had to create long queues in front of job applications and arrangement tents reacted with huge votes in municipalities.

The MHP has also adopted a hostile strategy for the opposition parties. MHP Chairman Bahceli also used the expression of the alliance. MHP lost Adana and Mersin and this was striking result in the hometown of Devlet Bahceli. Selahattin Denizoğlu, the candidate of the Saadet Party, won in the Hasanbeyli district of Osmaniye, where Bahçeli was born. Thus, Hasanbeyli district passed from MHP to Saadet Party.

The Minister of Internal Affairs Süleyman Soylu, who should be responsible for ensuring the peace and security of the nation, literally divided the society with his words at the rally squares.
