Turning the winds of war blowing between Russia and Ukraine in the Black Sea into a hot war poses great economic risks for Turkey.

While the increasing tension between Ukraine and Russia causes the waters in the Black Sea to warm up, in case of a possible war, it may affect especially the northern countries and our country, which has a coast on the Black Sea. It can deeply affect the defense industry, energy and tourism items. Being aware of this, Ankara assumes a mediator and neutral role in order to prevent a possible war in the Black Sea region or to minimize its effect.

THE DEFENSE INDUSTRY CAN FACE A BIG RISK

Although Turkey assumes the role of mediator and tries to remain neutral regarding the crisis between the two countries, it will be exposed to the negative effects of a possible war. At the forefront of the areas that will be exposed to this is the defense industry relations, which have recently developed and grown between Ankara and Kiev.

ANKARA MAY LOSE A SIGNIFICANT ITEM OF INCOME

Turkey, in order to maintain its neutral stance and not to damage its relations with Russia, in the event of war, it may suspend its defense industry relations with Ukraine. On the other hand, an attack on Ukraine's defense investments may lead to a long-term cessation of mutual relations. In such a case, Turkey may be faced with losing an important export item.

A GREAT LOSS CAN ALSO BE EXPERIENCED IN TOURISM

Tourism is one of the areas that face a great risk. Even if there is a slight decrease in the arrival of Russian tourists to our country in a possible war, it may cause a large decrease in the number of Ukrainian tourists who prefer Turkey as much as the Russians in their holiday preferences. The abandonment of such a mass, which constitutes an important part of the number of tourists, from their touristic activities may cause serious losses in terms of both the economic inputs of the touristic regions and the foreign exchange that will come to the country.
