Jerusalem, one of the oldest cities in history, is of great importance for the religion of Islam. Jerusalem, which the Crusaders and the Jews also claimed, has been the focus of controversy for many years. The second city of Jerusalem, the mosque of Masjid al-Aqsa, was first conquered by Muslims in 638 during the second caliph of Islam, Umar bin Khattab (RA). In 1099, the Christians occupied the city to organize the Crusades to take Jerusalem from the Muslims. Jerusalem was taken back from the Crusaders on October 2, 1187 by Muslims under the command of Saladin. Following the conquest of Saladin, the city remained under the control of Muslims until 1917, except for an 11-year occupation. However, as of today, the city is almost entirely in the hands of Israel.

The British occupied Jerusalem on December 9, 1917, 400 years after the occupation of Jerusalem under the auspices of the Ottoman Empire. In 1917, the Jewish population in the historic Palestinian territory is said to be around 60,000. In 1948, when the Jewish invasion of Israel declared independence, the number of Jewish immigrants exceeded 800,000. The most important goals of the occupying Jews settled in the Palestinian territories were the blessed city Jerusalem. Jerusalem has taken its share from the changing population balance in the region. After 24 years, the Jewish population in the city rose to 99,000 in 1946, while the number of Palestinian Arabs remained 65,000. Israel, which has built 19 illegal occupation units in Jerusalem since 1968 to increase the number of Jewish population in the city, placed more than 200,000 Jews in these places. Due to all these developments, the balance of the population rate of the Palestinians and Jews in Jerusalem was broken. As of today, there are 316 thousand Palestinians living in the city with more than 850 thousand inhabitants, while the rest of the population is Jews.

Zionist Israeli authorities on the one hand, while expanding the Jewish occupation sites on the other hand, the city's resident Arab population to prevent the construction of new housing. In a city where a Palestinian is almost impossible to obtain permission to build houses from the Israeli municipality, 20,000 houses belonging to Palestinians are in danger of collapse by terrorist forces on the grounds of l unlicensed Bir. From time to time, municipal teams are washing these houses and paying the demolition costs to the Palestinians.

The place most affected by the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem was the Masjid al-Aqsa. For many years, Israel has been working on demolition under the Harem-i Sharif, with a lie to reach a finding on Jewish history. The tunnel opened under the Burak Wall and then the others opened in this framework proved the excavation of Israel under and around the holy shrine. the invasion of the occupying Jews against Haram-i Sharif continues. Since 1967, the Israeli police have been waiting at the gates of the Haram-i Sharif's gates to organize raids organized by the Jews in Al-Aqsa.

On the 30th of July 1980, Israel invaded Jerusalem and declared Jerusalem as the capital of Jerusalem. In contrast, the UNSC adopted Resolution 478 in 1980, which deemed Israel to declare its capital annexing Jerusalem to the east. Despite the fact that the international community, including the UN, considered East Jerusalem as an occupied Palestinian territory, Israel continued to pursue its goals towards Jerusalem over the years. Another decision that influenced the city's fate as well as the occupation of Jerusalem came from US President Trump. On December 6, 2015, Trump signed the resolution recognizing Jerusalem as ’the capital of Israel Tr. Following this decision, the United States moved the Israeli Embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on May 14, 2018.
