In the past months, it was reported in the press that the anti-Islamic priests in the Greek Cypriot side were receiving weapons training. Following this development, it was revealed yesterday that Greek Cypriot deputies received weapons training in the company of the Greek Cypriot defense minister.

THE MINISTER OF DEFENSE ALSO ACCOMPANYED THE GREEK DEPUTIES

Deputies in the Greek Parliament Defense Committee visited the military unit in StavrovunI and were informed by the Greek Minister of Defense Haralambos PETRIDIS. Greek MPs, then accompanied by members of the Greek army, conducted target practice.

Haralambos Petridis drew attention to the cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and the Parliamentary Defense Committee, noting that the defense expenditures of the Greek Cypriot Administration were at the highest level of the last 20 years with the contributions of the committee and the government. While the traces of the bloody massacres of the Greek Cypriots in the 1970s are still fresh in the memories, the latest scandalous developments are interpreted as preparations for a new massacre against our Cypriot brothers.

PRIESTS, DEPUTIES… WHICH GROUP IS NEXT?

In Southern Cyprus, the priests' training in weapons with the encouragement of the army caused reactions. In February, the priests' practice of targeting with weapons belonging to the RMMO in the Greek part of the Republic drew a reaction. Images emerged that Greek priests from the Metropolitan of Constantia received shooting training at the renewed shooting range in the town of Protaras, under the supervision of some soldiers from the Greek army.
