Hundreds of thousands of teachers waiting for appointment were disappointed with the 20 thousand appointments announced for 2021.
President Erdogan announced that 20 thousand teachers will be appointed last day, despite the expectation of 60 thousand appointments from teacher candidates who have been struggling with exams and trying to make their voices heard for many years.
The teacher candidates, who reacted strongly to the "good news" of 20 thousand appointments, made special statements to Milli Gazete.
According to the Court of Accounts reports, while there was a shortage of 135 thousand teachers and in pandemic conditions, the appointment of at least 45 thousand teachers was expected to be announced. The announcement of 20 thousand appointments as "good news" despite the expectations of the teacher candidates for 60 thousand appointments, the promises of the authorities and the need in the education system caused reactions. "20 THOUSAND ASSIGNMENTS WILL NOT BE A CURE AT ALL"
Drawing attention to the negative effect of the announced number of appointments on them, Zahir Baran, history teacher, said, "Although the education will be given in diluted classrooms during the epidemic process, the announced 20 thousand appointments will not be a cure for any problems. It is unacceptable to appoint 20 thousand teachers in this period when high purchases are made from almost every profession group."
Science teacher Zeynep Sabaz said, "While the struggle we have been waging for months as teachers waiting for appointments is admirable, 20 thousand appointments do not eliminate our material and moral grievances in any way. We believe that our state will be sensitive to this issue ”and expressed the difficulties experienced by the teachers."

Ferdi Yalçın, a mathematics teacher, pointed to the need for teachers in the country and said, "We have expressed our request to appoint 60 thousand teachers through various activities for months. However, the 20 thousand appointments announced are definitely not the equivalent of efforts and efforts. Teachers' hope and dignity have been broken".
Cansu Özkan, a visual arts teacher, said, "While we were waiting for 60 thousand appointments," 20 thousand "was given to us as good news. We do not accept this. We are ready to serve as young, dynamic and well-equipped teachers. We expect our state elders to do what is necessary".
THERE ARE 135 THOUSAND TEACHERS
Diler Avcı, who is waiting for an appointment in the field of psychological counseling and guidance, expressed his reaction with the following words: "The fact that they shared 20 thousand appointments as good news has hurt us teachers who are waiting for appointment. While the country currently has at least 135 thousand teachers deficit and 80 thousand paid teachers are employed, 20 thousand can never be accepted as good news. Our request is to urgently approve the appointment of 60 thousand teachers."
Sevimnur Türkoğlu, who is an Arabic language teacher and has been waiting for appointments for years, said, "Unfortunately, the announced number of 20 thousand appointments does not meet even the current minimum requirement. Until this time, we raised our voices on various platforms, but we could not get the necessary explanations. At least this time, we want to hear them address us, that the number they announced will be the first appointment number and that additional appointments will be made".
