The Presidential High Advisory Board forgot to convene.
After the transition to the presidential government system, the bottlenecks and disruptions in the system make themselves felt seriously in every field. The Presidency High Advisory Board (YİK) was established for the better functioning of the existing system, especially the problems in question. The committee, which convened every month in the previous periods under the chairmanship of Erdogan, last met in December of last year. Although the Board has not convened for about 6 months, the members continue to receive their salaries above 15,000 Turkish Liras (TL).
3 board members fell into silence
It is thought that the fact that the members of the board came to the agenda with different ideas was effective in the recent lack of meeting of the board. While Cemil Çiçek's recent statements have caused controversy within the Presidency and the Justice and Development Party (AKP), it is noteworthy that other board members do not break their silence. Cemil Çiçek recently made the following statements: “Let's take lessons out from the past... We need to keep the fast that we keep with our stomach in Ramadan with our mouth a little bit. Democratic repentance is needed. It is necessary to do an accounting of conscience about where we made wrong.”
THERE ARE 4 FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE PARLIAMENT ON THE PRESIDENTIAL HIGH ADVISORY BOARD
The board, chaired by Erdoğan, includes İsmail Kahraman, Cemil Çiçek, Köksal Toptan and Mehmet Ali Şahin. Bülent Arınç, who was on the board before, had tensions with Erdoğan because of some of his statements. After the tension, Arinc resigned from the YIK membership. Yıldırım Akbulut also passed away.
THEY WERE RECEIVING A SALARY OF 15,000 TL IN 2019
After the board was formed, the salary of YİK members has always been the subject of discussion. YİK member Mehmet Ali Şahin, in a statement he made in July 2019, announced that the Presidency YİK members received a salary of 15,130 TL. It is stated that during the process in question, the salaries of YİK members were also increased.
