While no consensus could be reached in the 2023-2025 Group Collective Labor Agreement negotiations between the Turkish Metal Union and the Metal Industry Employers' Union, Türk Metal-Sen decided to take action.
Making a statement during the Ankara leg of the protests, Türk Metal-Sen Ankara Branch President İbrahim Biçer addressed the bosses and said, "Every day of the worker and laborer is difficult and difficult. Workers are always in crisis. Your crisis is temporary, ours is permanent."
While no consensus could be reached in the Group Collective Labor Agreement negotiations that started on September 26 between the Turkish Metal Union and the Metal Industry Employers' Union (MESS), Türk Metal-Sen left the contract table in reaction to the intransigent attitude of MESS.
While an agreement was reached on a total of 54 articles and 1 regulation in the 5 sessions held, no agreement was reached on 83 articles and 2 regulations.
While the items on which no agreement could be reached included material items related to wage increases and social rights, Türk Metal-Sen reacted to MESS's non-conciliatory attitude and decided to take action.
The first warning action carried out by Türk Metal-Sen was carried out yesterday, and within the scope of the action, black wreaths were laid simultaneously at MESS's Head Office in Istanbul and Ankara, Izmir and Bursa, and a press statement was made.
“WORKERS ARE ALWAYS IN CRISIS”
Biçer underlined that in the meetings, despite Türk Metal-Sen's new rights demands, MESS moved to take away the existing rights, emphasizing that they wanted the reward of their hard work.
"From here, we call out once again to the employers' union MESS; As Türk Metal-Sen, we will not say yes to this system of poverty, hunger and exploitation that you impose on us. If you ask employers, they will all say there is a crisis, there is a depression, we are going through difficult times. We also say; We are having difficulty in the market. We have difficulty in bringing bread to our home and giving pocket money to our children. Difficult days are temporary for you, but permanent for us. Every day of the worker and laborer is difficult and difficult. Workers are always in crisis. Your crisis is temporary, ours is permanent," Biçer said.
