Workers celebrate May 1 in Turkey: The agenda is livelihood!

Workers will celebrate May 1 in 81 provinces of Turkey. In this year's celebrations, where the agenda is a livelihood issue, workers and unions will once again shout out their demands for an additional raise to the minimum wage.

With the 1st of May coinciding with the eve of this year, the confederations will celebrate the labor day simultaneously in all provinces.
 
The 1 May celebrations will begin with the laying of wreaths by the General Presidents of "Türk-İş", "Hak-İş" and "DİSK" labour unions in Taksim Square.
 

CELEBRATIONS IN 81 CITIES OF TURKEY

 
Provincial presidencies of workers' confederations will celebrate May 1 in the squares of 81 provinces, especially in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir.
 
In the celebrations to be held jointly in 30 provinces, unions and workers will shout their demands.
 
Celebrations will not be limited to the squares. May 1 events will also be held in workplaces and digital environments.
 

ADDITIONAL INCREASE TO BE DEMANDED TO THE MINIMUM WAGE

 
The common point of the May 1 declarations to be read in the squares will be the cost of living and the obstacles to organization.
 
Workers will want to make up for their wages, which have been eroded by the overlapping hikes and high inflation rates.
 
Workers and unions will repeat their demands for an additional raise to the minimum wage.
