In Yemen, where political instability has prevailed for a long time, hunger and poverty are ending a country in front of the eyes of the world, as the civil war, which has become even more bloody with external interventions, is entering its 6th year.
Millions of people are struggling with hunger, famine and epidemic diseases as well as the destructiveness of the ongoing civil war. In the 21st year of the 21st century in Yemen, 13.5 million people are struggling to hold on to life at the risk of starvation, in some regions one in four children experience "acute hunger"!
THE WHOLE COUNTRY IN THE GRIP OF MISERY
Yemen, one of the poorest countries in the Middle East, has been moaning under the conditions of political chaos and brutal civil war, entering its 6th year.
While the conditions getting worse with each passing day make Yemen uninhabitable for millions of people; Almost a fifth of the children lost their homes due to the war, and 93 percent are in need of humanitarian assistance. One in five schools cannot be used due to conflict and 70 percent of children cannot access water. While coronavirus restrictions, grasshopper invasions and floods were added to the war environment, the number of aid made to the region in 2020 also decreased. However, the number of children affected by malnutrition in the country increased rapidly.
YEMEN BECAME A "HUNGER LAND"!
According to the new research prepared by the Integrated Food Safety Phase Classification, 16,500 people live in "famine-like conditions" in Yemen. This number is expected to triple in 2021. 13.5 million people are at risk of starvation. In some parts of the country, one in four children currently suffer from "acute hunger".
According to UN data, approximately 233 thousand people died due to diseases such as malnutrition and cholera, as well as the civil war that has been going on for 6 years in the country. 131 thousand of these casualties were caused by reasons such as hunger, health services and insufficient infrastructure.
