President and AKP Chairman Erdogan gave some suggestions to AKP mayors.
For example, he said "don't be arrogant".
Then he said, "Don't be haughty".
He also said "don't waste".
All of these suggestions are suggestions that one put his signature under...
And "must-follow" suggestions!
But!
These suggestions, which are admired and applauded in theory, are not very practical in practice.
All these years of experience show us that in practice, the understanding of "there should be no down-sizing on prestige" always outweighs.
Arrogant behaviors, proud actions, and wasteful spending are always connected to this understanding.
The mayor says that he bought the luxury vehicle that he pulled under, not for his own pleasure, but to protect the reputation of the municipality he was running against other municipalities.
So no one thinks they are “arrogant, haughty or extravagant”. There is only one way, in our opinion, for such counsel to be valid:
And that is to be a good example for mayors!
In other words, we believe that it will be much more effective to set an example with manners and actions, rather than giving them some advice with words. As a result, mayors are involved in daily life and are influenced by their environment.
When they choose as an example for themselves, they try to do exactly what they see.
If the central government can set a good example in this regard, the right way will be shown to the mayors.
Mayors can also direct the steps they will take by looking at the central government.
We think that many complaints about municipalities will be eliminated if it can be underlined that the concept of "there should be no down-sizing on prestige" is misunderstood.
In terms of waste, municipalities can be advised to stretch their legs according to their quilts.
If the principle of spending instead of wasting the limited opportunities at hand is put forward, municipalities will of course breathe a sigh of relief and create resources for real services.
Yes, local governments should be given both advice and behavior that will set an example for them.
Behaviors should not conflict with the advice given.
