Experts called for attention to Zionist operation accounts against these activities carried out on social media.
After the "Aqsa Flood" operation launched by HAMAS in Palestine, some social media users in Turkey attempted to exonerate Israel and supported Israel on social media, ignoring the massacre that Zionist Israel has been carrying out in Palestine for 75 years.
Fatih Gündüz, Chairman of the International Digital Media and Communication Association (UDM), pointed out that the war is being continued not only on land and in the air but also on social media, while Digital Communication Expert Salih Çaktı called for attention to the operation accounts.
THE WAR IS FOUGHT GLOBALLY IN THE SAME WAY ON SOCIAL MEDIA.
Stating that the war between HAMAS and Israel continues on social media, Fatih Gündüz, Chairman of the International Digital Media and Communication Association (UDM), stated that perception is managed with false images and said, "The war between Israel and Palestine does not only take place on land, in the air and in cities. The war is waged on a global scale in the same way on social media. The speed and intensity of the spread of images claimed to be of conflict on circulation platforms is far beyond what the world has ever experienced in relation to a war. Because it is obvious that the structure of social media, which can be manipulated in a very short time, is eye-catching and effective, and does not recognize geographical boundaries, is effective in this."
"ZIONISTS WANT TO IMPRESS THE SOCIETY AT THE POINT THAT ISRAEL IS THE RIGHTEOUS SIDE OF THE WAR"
Underlining that the feature of social media to influence the masses is actively used by states and structures, Gündüz stated that the war between Israel and Palestine has opened a separate front on social media.
"While the inhumane embargo imposed by Zionist Israel on people in Gaza has not been brought to the agenda for years, the speech of an Israeli soldier whose wife and children were captured is being dramatized and published in many media in Turkey, especially with the aim of explaining the consequences of the war. By bringing these images to the agenda of the world public through social media, the aim is to divert attention from the inhumane practices carried out in Gaza and to impress the public on the point that Israel is the rightful side of the war. Unfortunately, attempts are being made to bring Turkey, which is the biggest supporter of the resistance in Palestine, under this influence," he said.
"SOCIAL MEDIA USERS SUPPORTING ISRAEL HAVE BECOME A WEAPON OF WESTERN STATES"
Pointing out that Zionist Israel imposes a digital embargo, Gündüz stated that for this reason, the neutrality of posts related to the field is discussed, and added, "In the war waged on the digital embargo front, Zionist Israel was the first to start, and social media platforms that support Israel have become the weapons of Western governments in the war. This situation shows that even if Israel's discourse is wrong, when a counter-discourse is produced, digital media platforms become areas of sanctions. This reality virtually inculcates national actors that they should always advance Israel's interests in favor of Israel. The discourse of the state or actor opposing Zionism is erased from the public sphere on a global scale."
"DIRECTION IS MADE WITH THE TROJAN HORSE CONCEPT"
Digital Communication Specialist Salih Çaktı pointed out that in the wars taking place in the world, the concepts of just, unjust or strong and weak are replaced by the war of right and power through social media, emphasizing the power gained from social media.
"Many operational accounts that operate with the Trojan horse concept and are in the same echo chamber as you are used by states. The Trojan horse concept refers to accounts that have caught your interest and share 1 percent or less content aimed at directing and manipulating you. For example, when you follow a social media account related to a sport you love or an ideology you support, you may occasionally notice that this account directs you. We see this Trojan horse concept a lot in this ongoing war between Israel and Palestine," he said.
"PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN: BE AWARE OF OPERATIONAL ACCOUNTS"
Stating that these accounts operating on social media are taking steps to change perception and opinion, Çaktı noted that these activities are widespread, especially on Twitter and Telegram.
"Ideas affect words, words affect minds. Unfortunately, it is not enough to be careful about such accounts, which unknowingly replace the news of a martyr with death. The most important precaution to take is to be alert against operational calculations! Be careful about content spread by accounts that do not belong to any individual. If you come across news that you are suspicious of, question its source. Just because a social media account has the same digital arguments as you does not mean that it thinks like you. While following the agenda, turn to sources you trust. There may be thousands of accounts that speak the same language as you but do not have the same agenda as you, so we should be careful on social media," he added.
