The bad course in the economy is locking the doors of companies. According to the statistics announced by The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), the number of closed companies increased by 259,7 percent compared to the previous year. In the same period, there was an increase of 671,4 percent in the number of closed cooperatives and 122,2 percent in the number of real person commercial enterprises that were closed.
The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) shared the May results of the ‘Companies Founded and Closed Statistics’ announced every month with the public. The statistics released revealed that there was a great increase in the rate of companies that were closed due to the negative picture in the economy. According to the data, the number of companies closed in May 2022 increased by 259,7 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. In the same period, the number of closed cooperatives increased by 671,4 percent, while the number of closed real person commercial enterprises was recorded as 122,2 percent. Compared to the previous month, the number of companies established decreased by 12,2 percent in May.
CLOSED COMPANY 5 TIMES MORE THAN OPENED COMPANY
TOBB data for the first five months of 2022 were also shared. Compared to the first 5 months of 2021, in the first 5 months of 2022, the number of closed companies increased by 74 percent, the number of cooperatives closed by 128,1 percent, and the number of real person commercial enterprises closed by 1 percent. While the number of companies established increased by 16,7 percent, the number of cooperatives established by 19,2 percent, the number of established real person commercial enterprises decreased by 13,4%.
